New York State Open: interesting positions
Hello there. I was at a tournament recently, and wanted to toss up some news about that. It was a difficult event for me, because I spent much of my time scrambling for tough draws after making some silly error in the opening or middlegame. Here's a case in point:
So I had a near-miss there and in each of the next two rounds (though the situations in those other two games weren't as dire). In the last round, we had this interesting position:
So I tied for the top class prize, but did lose a few rating points. The games were interesting, though, and will provide some good examples for my students.
